How To Market Your Business To Gen Z

Gen Z marketing tips

Is it all just TikTok and iced lattes... or is there a little more to it?

Do you have a product or service that you think Gen Z would be interested in? This generation often requires a different approach, they’re tech savvy, climate caring, TikTok loving and baggy jeans wearing. They want brands with authenticity, brands with social responsibility and they probably aren’t afraid to cancel you.

So how do you market your business to them?

Conscious brands

A lot of Gen Z users look for what a brand stands for, not just what they do. Does the brand deliver products in plastic packaging? Does the brand offset their carbon footprint? How diverse is the company? And does the company post in support of key events like Pride and Black History Month? It’s not just about saying you care for Gen Z, it’s about acting on these things and working to make the world a better place.

Go to them!

If you’re only marketing on Facebook and you’re confused why this isn’t reaching Gen Z… you might need to do more research. Gen Z probably aren’t there. If you want your product to reach Gen Z, you need to go directly to them (and they aren’t updating their Facebook status). It’s probably time to download TikTok and build a following on there if you think Gen Z will purchase your product or service.

Flexibility

Gen Z want flexibility, why? Because they’re used to it. They didn’t go through the days of pirating movies and waiting three hours to download, they had Netflix. They have grown up with choice and if your brand doesn’t give them choice and flexibility, they’ll just quickly Google an alternative.

That’s why we’re finding Gen Z love Billycart. It offers them choice in when their payments can be made and flexibility in how they pay and what works for them.

The best piece of advice you can get? speak to a few people in that age bracket! They know best. Ask them what they do for fun, what their daily struggles are and what their key interests might be. This will help you better understand them rather than guessing.
